In 2017 we were in Varanasi. Varanasi is the spiritual center of Hinduism. Those who are burnt here in the fires that Shiva lit 2500 years ago and which have been burning ever since are freed from the cycle of suffering.

Consciousness only exists in connection with other consciousness

Many films feature good hotels that are centrally located and where the political, intellectual, and economic elite gather. I've always perceived this as something very elitist, colonial, and power-hungry. What I missed in the films, and what was probably rarely addressed there, is the networking that takes place in such places. Now, the Center Guesthouse in Auroville is hardly comparable to a luxury hotel in a metropolis, although it is a very beautiful place that invites...

My perception changes when I arrive in India. The smell, the sounds, the slowness, the intuition, the acceptance, hope are wonderful things that I see. Others may see stench, noise, inefficiency, irrationality, and resignation, despair. I think it is this different perspective that allows me to feel comfortable in India. So I have had wonderful experiences. Thus I learned that different people have different perspectives on the same things. I learned by going from A to…

What should I take with me to India? I want to live a different life, in a different society, with different ideas and goals. It's warm there, life will be simple. Besides the basics like a few pieces of clothing, I need my tech gadgets like a laptop, phone, and camera. And what else? A good flashlight, because the dirt roads there are not lit. And books... There will be a number of libraries there too. I haven't had any ‚fun‘ for a very long time...

During meditation, I often observe my thinking, letting thoughts come and go, and try to slow down the thinking process. Thoughts come and go, and I often don't understand where they come from, or why they are eventually replaced by a completely different thought. What chain of association is at work there? These chains of thought seem random, triggered by experiences that are still resonating and being processed. This reminds me of a philosophical idea. It begins with an observation by Henri Bergson…

The forest is a wonderful habitat. Recently, I heard a little story about a man who, whenever he entered the forest, would whistle a melody. After a while, the animals recognized him by it and accepted his presence. They no longer ran away, sometimes they even greeted him. We often don't see the forest as it is because we disturb it so much. Today I was in the forest. Instead of going for a walk as usual, I meditated a bit, and then a little...

When I first came ’home‘ from India, I looked at my library and saw that almost nothing in it interested me anymore. What had happened? What is in this library, and what is not? My library is that of a philosopher and art historian who taught in Europe and the USA. It contains many books that deal with discourses of modernity and postmodernity – theoretical, historical, analytical, comparative... Often, the topic of representation is addressed. What is...

Mnemosyne Atlas This is a personal blog. However, it is also about a transformation of consciousness. Consciousness does not exist singularly within people. It only exists in connection to other consciousness. Consciousness is communicative. A journey into consciousness is therefore always more than just a personal journey. It is a manifestation. In 2016, I traveled to India. I wanted to read Gilles Deleuze there. I had a feeling that doing so would unlock a new level. I read slowly. Thoughts are...
